Chickpea Puffs

Chickpea Puffs

Ingredients

  • chickpeas
  • olive oil
  • spices according to your taste (garlic, salt, pepper, herbs – basil, oregano etc.; paprika, curry…)

Preparation

The recipe is very simple, but the preparation is rather lengthy. Chickpeas have to be put in water at least overnight. Fill a pot with the required amount of chickpeas and pour enough water. Leave it to stand until the next day.

The next day, drain the water, dry the chickpeas and put them in a plastic bag. Pour approximately a tablespoon of olive oil into the bag. Add spices or herbs according to your taste. Twist the bag so that the chickpeas inside have enough space to mix without spilling out. Shake the bag several times and make sure that all the chickpeas are covered with oil and spices. If you are satisfied with the taste, pour the chickpeas on a baking sheet and spread properly in one layer. Place the sheet in the oven and bake the puffs until golden brown at 200 °C for about 25 minutes (depending on your oven type). Shake the chickpeas on the baking sheet during baking.

Roasted chickpeas taste best alone. You can, of course, also put them into salads or soups.
